software development system that enables designers to create highly optimized
and flexible programmable systems while reducing overall development costs.
Designers can use the evaluation platform in many ways. Software engineers can
develop software and device drivers using a complete "known-good" system,
saving weeks of development time and avoiding costly and time-consuming
re-spins. System architects can explore the tradeoffs of implementing various
system level functions in hardware or software. Hardware engineers can work
with software engineers to build custom IP cores using the infrastructure that
the platform provides, greatly accelerating the design time for new
functionality.
The evaluation platform includes the ML300 hardware platform, Virtex-II
Pro FPGA, power supply, cables, hardware development tools, debugging tools,
intellectual property cores and device drivers, embedded software development
tools, example operating systems, tutorials, documentation and several
reference designs that can be implemented immediately. The bundle also ships
with an 1 GB IBM MicroDrive with eight different configurations of hardware
and software systems ranging from simple stand alone applications to real time
operating systems that can be directly demonstrated on the ML300 evaluation
platform. In addition, board support packages (BSPs) are available for both
the Wind River Systems® VxWorks® real time operating system (RTOS) and the
Linux® embedded operating system from MontaVista(TM) Software.

Price and Availability
The Virtex-II Pro ML300 evaluation platform is available in two product
versions. The DO-V2P-ML300 version, priced at $4,695, which consists of the
ML300 hardware platform, developer's kit, GNU software development tools,
ChipScope Pro(TM), Parallel Cable IV, reference platforms, hardware and
software IP, tutorials, documentation, power supply, complete set of cables,
and an evaluation copy of the Xilinx Integrated Software Environment (ISE
5.1i) FPGA design and implementation tools. The DO-V2P-ML300-WRS version,
priced at $6,990, includes all of the above plus the Xilinx Edition of the
Wind River Systems software development tools that includes a compiler,
hardware and software debug tools and the Wind River Systems Vision Probe II
Cable.
